The Paula Carr Trust began a new optometrist service for retinal screening of disabled patients in East Kent in 2004. One of our optometrists is based at the Paula Carr Diabetes Centre There are 8 optometrists based in Ashford, Dover, Deal, Tenterden, Canterbury, Thanet and Folkestone whose practices provide access for disabled and wheelchair bound patients.
1400 patients were screened last year under the optometrist service. A new service for West Kent has been set up this year.
